CuriousityKilledtheCat: What color should bridesmaids’ bouquets be to compliment apple red dresses and bride’s bouquet?
We are trying to figure out what color the bridesmaids bouquets should be for a Spring wedding. The bride’s bouquet will be red and white roses exclusively. She does not want the bridesmaids to have roses because of the cost. The bridesmaids dresses are Apple red. Does anyone have any suggestions on colors and/or types of flowers that compliment the bride’s rose bouquet? BTW, the decor for the reception is red and white with artificial flowers. Please help.

Why don’t you have the bridesmaid’s bouquets be all white? Almost every flower comes in white. What about tulips? They would be appropriate for Spring and complement roses well. For colors I would say white, yellow, or pink.Answer by mj69catz
I like the all white idea, and the single calla lily idea. Another good idea is a spring boquet that has multiple colors in it, but is primarily white.Answer by lizrtliz
Tulips or carnations both look great in red — a bundle of 6 red or red and white tulips would be beaurtiful, as would a good-size bunch of red or red and white carnations. Carnations are practically cheaper than the soil they’re grown in, which is nice, and they make up a showy display without a ton of flowers, since they’re frilly-ish.Answer by DistinctOccasions
I would try and move the bride to an all-red bouquet for impact and the girls with small posies of all white. These could be roses, lilies, freesia, carnations, lysianthus, even hydrangea.
Good luck!
Answer by nova_queen_28I have cranberry red for my bridesmaids.
My bouquet will be all red and the bridesmaids will be all white.
If you don’t want your BMs all white, I think a pale pink would compliment red. If you have another accent color you could use that as a flower color for the BMs as well. I just think a light color will stand out best in front of the apple dresses. Anything too dark will just blend in and not stand out in photos.

I had a red dresses for my bridesmaids and they had white boquets and to cut the cost of real flowers I went to Michael’s and talked to the person who makes the floral arrangements and he did a wonderful job with the fake flowers. She can do an all white boquet with callilies and carnations with a red flower in the middle. Cut Cost go fake for the flowers! Seriously it will save you money!Answer by byrdie
I’m going to say white carnations for this reason – carnations look similar to roses from a distance, so for the photos it will look good. The bride will have a white dress with a red & white bouquet (although I’d consider an all red rose bouquet for impact against the white dress) and the Maids will have red dresses with white bouquets. I just got married and I had a deep red rose bouquet which I loved – it looked great in the photos with the white dress. Then I had carnations on the head table and they looked pretty too. I didn’t have Maids so that was not an issue. Anyway, I recommend the red & white contrast. It will look gorgeous!
