Well I don’t know the entire story, but let me remind you this: People never rebel/revolt just because they don’t have enough freedom. Almost every single rebellion in history has had an economic reason, like for example the lack of work in Libya.
More examples? Taxes in the American revolution, lack of food in the French revolution, mis-harvests in the Dutch Rebellion against the Spanish.
