Well, there are lots of different “bachelor of music” degrees:
B.M. Music Education
B.M. Vocal Performance
B.M. Instrumental Performance (any instrument)
B.M. Piano Performance
B.M. Piano (or vocal) Pedagogy — teaching lessons
B.M. Music History
B.M. Music Theory
I could go on and on. Your career opportunities would be different for each one. I will tell you that any “Performance” degree will not do much for providing you a job. If you want to teach music, you are going to need to lean more to the Music Ed. and/or Pedagogy degrees. My degree is piano pedagogy…. I run a piano studio in my home , teaching group and private lessons. I have about 30 students. I also accompany for soloists, choir concerts, solo/ensemble competitions, etc. And I play for weddings.
A Music Ed. degree is going to put you in things like elementary music teacher, middle/high school choir director, band director, etc.
Maybe that at least gets you started.
