radiology, ultrasounds are all the same field. If you want to work with pregnant women then you might want to study to be a physician’s assistant, specializing in gynecology and obstetrics.
Dont sell yourself short by training to be a Physicians assistant or ultrasound tech….. if you have the brainpower to go to college for 4 years, then I HIGHLY recommend that you research a new, up and coming field called Nuclear Medical Technology. Major universites and colleges have Biology- Nuc. Med. tech. programs.
Come out of school starting at about 65-70K a year…. FYI.
Answer by RadTech – RT(R)The correct title is diagnostic medical sonographer, and they do a lot more than pregnancy ultrasounds. Sonography can be used to examine many parts of the body, such as the abdomen, breasts, female reproductive system, prostate, heart, and blood vessels. Sonography is increasingly being used in the detection and treatment of heart disease, heart attack, and vascular disease that can lead to stroke.Answer by mtwaites
This is in the diagnostic imaging field. Yes they are called ultrasound technicians. They make some good money in this field, and it can be very rewarding.
