seeingred: What can we do to get the bride and groom to kiss?
We’re getting married next summer and I have been to numerous weddings where the guests tap their glasses to get the bride and groom to kiss. Does anyone have any other ideas (besides the guests singing a song – not too crazy about that one either) to get us to kiss? Thanks to all who answer.

Why do you need something to get you to kiss… if you want to kiss just kiss.
Besides, by the time the reception comes around… you are going to have so much going on that kissing is the last thing you’ll be worrying about. I remember at my wedding, that those damn klicking glass was nothing but irritationg…. it was like “COMMON people, you just watched me kiss her 10 mintues ago. I’ve got people to talk to, people to thank, dances to do, speeches to give…. STOP WITH THE DAMN CLICKING ALREADY”

everytime someone says a certain word like ‘love’ or your names. within reason of course. if they’re all the way on the other side of the room and you don’t hear them, then they shouldn’t expect you to kiss.Answer by becca
I was never a fan of the glass tapping I never knew what that meant till my wedding alot of newbies(newly married that is) also do not know what the tapping of the glasses means.
I suggest maybe buying some little bells like the kind some have rung when the bride and groom walk out of church (know what I mean?) and if you use them then just have someone tranport them to recep. and dispurse them on tables or have them on tables already maybe with little cards saying “If you wish to see the bride and groom kiss, please ring these bells so it won’t be missed”Answer by foxylady_652003
i went to this wedding awhile ago and they played this song called “kiss me deadly” by lita ford, and everytime they said the words kiss me deadly they had to kiss it was pretty cool 🙂Answer by jagpsl
Give people little bells to ring. Every time you hear a bell, you have to kiss.Answer by Marie157
Oh god, dont do anything like that. I absolutely DETEST the forced kissing. Its your wedding. Your going to kiss enough. It is the most annoying thing to be in the middle of a conversation and have to stop everything to have an uncomfortable kiss.
Your guests are probably going to just tap their glasses. You shouldnt instruct them to do something different.
I have already let it be known that if anyone taps their glasses or rings a damn bell at my wedding that there will be no kissing. Grr, I absolutely HATE that!
Answer by SarahGive everyone a tin of mints that say something like “shake these mints to wedded bliss and keep on shaking till they kiss” so every time someone shakes the mints you have to kiss.Answer by osubuckeye_82
I was at a wedding this summer where there were little silver bells at every place setting and a card instructing guests not to tap their glasses. I have to admit the bride’s mother was the one who wrote up the cards and the guests DID NOT like sitting down to something like that…a lot of people still tapped on their glasses and the friends of the bride and groom did it to piss off the bride’s mom (especially when drunk)….other people saw them doing it and it was a chain reaction….!
So I would say if you’re gonna do something like that, please, don’t put cards like that at every place setting, maybe have the DJ make an announcement about what the (wedding bells) are for. If you have to, make something up like you have to pay $ 15 for every broken glass and the bride and groom would appreciate it if the guests use (whatever you decide).
The “instructions” at every table just didn’t go over well. I don’t think it was even proper etiquette!
