J: What can my sons do about their sister selling property that belonged to their decesed father?
My sons were 16 when their biological father died. Their older sister became the administrator over the estate. Their father had several cars and trucks which he had saved for his sons. The sister sold all of them and gave the boys nothing. Also she’s renting out the house, which belongs to their father. My sons are now 19. What should they do?

They can’t really do anything. She has the power.
Without a will and provisions for the boys made in that will, there may not be much of anything you can do, apart from hiring an attorney.Answer by thatartistwin
She as the administrator can only carry out the statements in the will. If the will leaves the cars and trucks to the boys she, by law, has to give them to the boys. Get a copy of the will and look at what it says. An administrator is not the same as a sole beneficiary. (though the administrator does get a percentage of the estate as payment for her troubles)Answer by sheloves_dablues
Did he have a will?
I’m assuming thier sister is not your daughter?
Perhaps you should be consulting a lawyer instead of a bunch of lay people that are not experts in estate law.
Answer by Lisa GThey need to protect their interest in the estate by hiring
an attorney and filing with the probate court.
They might not get anything with regard to the items
that have been sold as they should have had an adult
sue her on their behalf when she sold the items. It
depends on the laws of your state and the amount
of time the law permits.
They can sue to have the house sold and the proceeds
split if they were willed the home.
They can contest the will if there is one.
