Penny: What can I do to get my pony to not be afraid of flowers?
I have a 5 year old almost 6 year old pony who is afraid of flowers. I’ve tried things like picking up the flowers and petting her with them, walking over them and stuff like that and she doesn’t mind that. But when were jumping she’ll freak out at the flowers and refuse the jump as well as if there’s some flowers on the ground as we walk by them she’ll freak out. Any suggestions of what i can do?

Try putting a box of fake flowers in her stall and around her paddock and she’ll get used to them. Just make sure she doesnt eat them eat them!
Agree with the fake flower thing, but I would use dark colors first then gradually add bright flowers, then add in a few real ones.Answer by wayne w
If she freaks that bad over flowers, add them around slowly. Dont flood every place she goes at once. Add fake flowers a little at a time. Add more and more as she gets used to them. Start a line or circle, whatever the shape of her paddock is and continue with them until they are in her stall, by the water tank, feed bucket, trailer etc. Put 1 flower out of a bunch first and add more flowers to the bunch as you add to the area. Can you wear a flower patterned shirt without her freaking out? You could save that for last. You dont want to give her trust issues with you along with her fear of flowers. Put the flowers at ground, knee, waist, and any other levels to the top of fence. Give her time, be patient. Dont make an issue of the flowers by trying to convince her they wont hurt her,she has to figure that out. She will. You can use the garlands too.
