L: What books would you reccommend for someone who wants to learn about American politics and history?
Preferably more on politics side! I’m Canadian and I want to be more aware of what’s happening in other countries. Any really good books that can give me further insight (or rather any insight at all) into how American politics work and the history of it all would be really great.

A People’s History of the United States by Howard Zinn is a good start. It’s flawed in places but not as heavily so as a romanticized history focusing on a couple of rich land owners in wigs without regard to the life and times of actual American people.
any Dr Seuss book will do.Answer by MichelleB
You could try reading biographies from past presidents:
The Audacity of Hope by Barak Obama
Decision Points by George W. Bush
My Life by Bill Clinton
The Reagan Diaries by Ronald Reagan
Another very interesting book is First Kids: The True Story of All the President’s Children by Noah McCullough. The author was only 13 years old when he wrote it! (link below)
