beautiful lie<3: What books are normally read in the 11th grade?
Ok, so next fall I’m moving to MI from MA ;(
Right now I’m in Honors English 10 and we’ve read quite a few books. But I’m just wondering what books are normally read in English class in Michigan?
And also, if anyone can tell me what classes are required for 11th graders in Michigan, I’ll love you forever!!!
BTW planning on moving to Dearborn MI.
Thank you!

I doubt that the reading material varies by area much. My recollection of high school reading material is classics like “Catcher in the Rye”, “To Kill a Mockingbird”, “Animal Farm” and I bet those are pretty much standard anywhere.
For your information, though, Dearborn, Michigan, has a huge Arab population, surpassed only by the actual Middle East, so that might have some influence on the reading material. Not sure though.
Good look with your studies.
Answer by Mopar Muscle GalI dont think Michigan has rules on what books are required for reading in the 11th grade
Dont worry- Michigan isnt another country
Answer by candyapple58I would suggest you go the schools website, there you might be able to get the answer you are looking for. Southfield school district put their summer reading program online a little closer to the end of the school year, but if you are just talking about in class during the school year check out the website, not sure if it will be there. Once school starts some teachers will put it on their own website. Good Luck and Welcome to Michigan!!!Answer by mfog
I don’t live in Michigan but this year for 11th grade IBH English (which is almost the same as AP Lit) we read:
The Metamorphosis – Franz Kafka
Angela’s Ashes – Frank McCourt
A Christmas Carol – Charles Dickens
Like Water For Chocolate – (I forgot her name…)
Chronicle of A Death Foretold – Gabriel Garcia Marquez
A Doll’s House – Henrik Ibsen
