What are the pros and cons of buying a refurbished computer online?

Hollywood Vegas: What are the pros and cons of buying a refurbished computer online?
I’m thinking of buying myself a Mac desktop, mainly so I can use FCP, and I saw some great prices on refurbished Macs online. But before I buy one, is there something I should know about buying these computers? What were your experience with a refurbished computer? Thanks, your answers will be greatly appreciated!

I always buy refurbished Dells online and never had a problem with them.

I bought one about seven years ago and it looked good and worked good.

Someone bought it new.

It had a problem, so they returned it, under warranty. They got another new one.

The faulty one was fixed, and sold as refurbished.

Pros: cheaper.
Cons: might show signs of use (it would anyway after you’ve used it. Might not be fixed properly, though should be.

You should get the as new warranty, or if not then it should be VERY cheap.

I bought my Sony laptop online that was refurbished. Never had a single problem with it so I think it’s a great idea. As a matter of fact, I’m using it right now in my patio! 🙂 Google “refurbished computers on sales” and you’ll find a great selection available.
