: What are some songs to dance classical ballet to?
I practice classical ballet en pointe at home sometimes and I am kinda tired of dancing to silence. So what are some classical songs to dance to? Thank- you so much.

Pretty much anything by Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms, Bach… some of Franz Liszt’s stuff.
But especially Mozart.
Oh, and I’d start out with “Swan Lake”! Absolutely the best thing for ballet.

Reflection (from Milan)
Colors of The Wind (Pocahontas)
Butterfly kisses (don’t know who sings it, but I loved this song as a kid)
Go the Distance (Hercules)
Someday My Prince Will Come (Snow White)

Hey, yours is a very easy fix if you have a computer with an Internet connection and a good set of speakers. Just go to Pandora.com or Last.fm and enter “Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart” and let the classical music play while you dance. You can give a “thumbs down” on Pandora or ban a track on Last.fm if you don’t care for a particular song selection.Answer by J-Lyn
Not to have anything against real classical music, but I am a big fan of instrumental versions of songs. Actually, that is all our ballet teacher ever uses, but then again, we are not a ballet based studio. Pretty much any music by Vitamin String is really good. They take popular songs and make them into beautiful violin music. Another artist to check out is Piano Tribute if you would rather have piano.Answer by lizardmomma
Any classical music, or instrumental, or score music from movies would work for practicing at home. Even Pink Floyd would work since in 1972 Roland Petit created an entire ballet to their music.

Classical music? TCHAIKOVSKY! Besides, he composed the music for popular ballets like Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, and Sleeping Beauty so he’s my number one choice! Mozart is also great 🙂 But Tchaikovsky for sure 😛
But I like to dance to contemporary music more for ballet. I think that it’s easy to do ballet do a lot of genres. Try some Evanescence 🙂 Especially Lacrymosa (and the music is originally Mozart) and Lithium. I did Lithium for an audition once and it when great!
Or… instrumentals from movies! These are awesome. My favourite for ballet is definitely Prologue from Beauty and the Beast by Alan Menken. Just listen to it and tell me that you don’t feel like grabbing your pointe shoes 😛
Try all Alan Menken stuff and if you’re looking for some hardcore, epicness try Hans Zimmer. His King Arthur and Pearl Harbour soundtracks are good for ballet as well as a lot of his other stuff.
I also like the Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon soundtrack for ballet. You wouldn’t think that traditional Chinese influence would work for ballet but it does 🙂
Good luck!
