Livi Long: If I start ballet at 13 and i work hard would i be able to do a en pointe eventually?
I don’t want to become a professional at all. I just would like to start ballet for fun and to keep fit. I’d like to know if I start sometime next year as a begginer, eventually would I be able to do a en pointe even if that takes me a few years.
Is it possible?

Very possible
It’ll take a couple of years, but if you’re ready, then yes. You will go en pointe.Answer by dancinaleks
Yes! Eventually you will!
Like my teacher says, everyone can be a dancer if you want to be! All you have to do is put your mind to it! Good luck!
Answer by Mary.I’ve had a lot of training in various types of dancing. I’ve always had a good pointe because of this, along with a good turnout etc etc..
i started ballet last year.. my teacher thinks i’m ready to start pointe, in which i will be starting next year. Ive got one of the best turnouts and pointes in the class, and i’m a very fast learner.
Take it from me, you will definitely be doing pointe if you have strong ankles, a good pointe, a good turnout, and wonderful technique. your never too young to start ! im 16.
Answer by kaitlynyes just make sure you strengthen your ankles a lot. I am sure in a year or 2 your teacher will probably recommend you if you try really hard.Answer by dancepaws
Yes that is definitely possible. Get ankle flexibility, and strengthen your legs/ankles. ๐ Also if you want to get to en pointe as soon as possible then you should probably take numerous classes a week and take a technique class. ๐
Hope I helped and good luck!Answer by dancin4eva

I’m sure that you would be able to do it in a few years. Just make sure that you work with a good teacher to make sure you get the right technique so you don’t hurt yourselfAnswer by kenboy9492

My ex started at just over 30, and went en pointe. She had a tough time finding an adult class! There was her, a 20 year old, and some 16 and up. But, it happened, so, it could with you too. Very hard work to be sure though.Answer by Jackie Blah
Absolutely! Although starting at your age is pretty old many have done it. However, in order to safely prepar yourself for pointework your should really concentrate on strengthening your ankles, since dancers who start t a young age build their ankle muscles gradually from doing releves and such excercies when they begin pointework the appropriate muscles are already strong. Take a theraband (excercise elastic) and put it around your toes. With the elastic tightenend practice pointing your toes. Youtube theraband, ballet or how to strengthen ankles ballet and your should find some instructional videos.Answer by Rosie
yeah because ur muscles are more developed at 13 than 3.Answer by Bee
Sure. If you’re committed to dance and work hard, I believe you could be up by 16.
You could start out by doing ballet on flat for about 1 1/2 years. Then, I suggest starting some strengthening exercises for pointe.
My recommendation? Buy the Perfect Pointe Book by Lisa Howell. In just a month, she gives you week-by-week steps to make you prepared for pointe. It helped me SO MUCH. I couldn’t have been the dancer I am today without it. Be sure to ask your teacher before starting, finishing, and going through with pointe exercises. Also have her evaluate you before buying pointe shoes.
My advice? Take all pointe exercises slow and be careful when first going en pointe. Never be discouraged. Try your best.
You’ll be a great dancer! ๐
Good luck!
Yes, you will be able to do an en pointe eventually even though you are starting ballet at 13.
It will take you few years.
Here’s one tip: when you are sleep in the ground and put your feet under bed or somewhere else where you can put your feet but only about 6 inches from the ground. If you keep doing this every night then someday you will able to do it but more quicker than you thought.
I hope you can do it~
Good Luck~!!!!
