Lauren: What are some small motels right on the beach in southern california?
I don’t need alot of amenities, just something with a bed, shower, and within walking to the beach and bars. I’ll be flying into LAX but will not be renting a car. I just want to be in a small beach town, nothing fancy!!

Maybe they have those where you live, but you really don’t have those here. Around the LA area, the only things right on the beach are higher-priced hotels, private residences, and open, public beaches. That’s it.
Even the cheapest places like Hotel California or Holiday Inn Santa Monica run over $ 200 per night.
Answer by Muppet‘Small’ beach town is all relative in California. Southern California has 17 million people.
If you want ‘small’ beach towns you should fly into San Diego or San Francisco. Los Angeles and Orange County are nothing but city for as far as the eye can see. Northern San Diego County has some smaller beach communities as does the Central Coast (Pismo Beach) and the area north of San Francisco.
Since you’re flying into LAX you should check out the Hotel California. It’s on the beach in Santa Monica and close to all of the tourist attractions. The water is very cold and doesn’t warm up until the middle of summer.
Taxi’s are expensive.Answer by fxxkyocouch
while the people that commented are right, and i can’t recall the names of any, but if you’re looking for extremely cheap, i’d be careful. the motels i’ve seen around any beach in the los angeles area at least look absolutely disgusting and unsanitary. best just getting a hotel and turning it into a nice long walk if you want cheaper and near a beach.
