: What motels allow 17 year olds to buy them?
My friend and i are planning to go on a road trip, we are both 17 years of age. We don’t really have our parents’ consent on the road trip so we are planning on buying the Motel ourselves. I have a debit card, but i’m 18 yet, and i didn’t know if specific motels allow the rental of rooms for minors. :T I live in Texas btw.

a hotel owner her self! (me)

For this and other valid reasons hotels don’t rent rooms to anyone under 21, and you must have a credit card – not a debit card.
Try researching youth hostels.
Answer by CharlieDo you know the difference between paying for your room and BUYING a Motel? There is a HUGE difference. When you pay to go to a movie, do you say you are buying the theater? when you buy a hamburger, do you “buy” the restaurant? Of course not. You pay for the product or service you got from that place. Some motels accept minors, you just have to call ahead and ask. Going without parental consent is a really dumb move. Talk to your parents first…will be a lot better than facing them afterwards if you go without permission.Answer by Prairie Girl
You don’t need to buy the motel in order to rent a room. Most motels require the guest to be 21 to rent a room, however some will rent to 18 year olds if they don’t mind sharing the room with the roaches. All motels require you to have a credit card.Answer by MomSezNo
Buying a motel would cost an awful lot of money. Why would you want to buy a motel?
If you mean a motel ROOM, you can’t do that either.
