American Apparel is the largest company that I know that manufacturers their own clothing. Most companies don’t. I don’t know of any other direct to consumer company that does (I don’t think The Gap, Hot Topic, or any of the mall shops do).

I would suggest you look at Fashiondex (Fashiondex.com) to see if they have the type of materials you are looking for. They will have information on where to manufacture; I’m not sure if they have anything on “how to” manufacture.

Also, there is a newspaper called The California Apparel News. This is the newspaper of the Los Angeles Fashion scene/district. There is a company that advertises in there on a regular basis that does leather bag manufacturing.
