Samantha: Tattoo Question for the experienced?
Those are two photos above. The first one is of a sketching of lungs. I want that tattooed on my back in the same general location as the dragon tattoo on the girl in the second photo. I do not want it as large, maybe half the size and up toward the middle of my back, like the shoulder blades. Also, I want a dragon to rest on top of the lung etching, but a smaller one that is not exactly the same as the one pictured. As an experienced tattooer, would this look nice and is it achievable? This will be my 3rd tattoo.
Thanks a lot. Any comments/suggestions are welcome and appreciated.
Thanks for those who are answering. You are giving good advice.

It would look nice and yes its achieveable. But you need to do your research on your tattoo artist for you want the best. Also take in consideration of the time it will take to do it because that will reflect upon the price.
Hmm, I’m not so sure. If you want it to look like lungs, it may be difficult to get that across with just the inerds of the lungs shown. Right now they look very close to roots. Of course, if you go with the external view, it may not look as cool… like a couple of kidneys or blobs.
Maybe you could include a faint sketch in the same style at the original of the trunk of a human body (no head, partial arms, stopping around the belly button) around the drawing (which is really cool by the way) to give dimension and an indication of what if being shown. Nothing gruesome.
Your best bet would be to do your homework and find a really, really good artist to help you realize this since it is stylistically pretty complex. Let them run with the idea and then work through what they come up with with them.
Really cool, original idea!

i like the idea for the faint sketch of lungs… bold sketchs may look a bit odd. but your ideas are definitly achievable, you’ll want to find an artist who is capable of this design. be sure when you research shops you look at the artist’s portfolio’s, then you can get a better feel for their specialties.Answer by big daddy
the picture of the lungs looks pretty good. maybe you should put a faint outline of the lungs so they look a bit more like lungs than just roots on your back. for something like that i suggest you go a pretty decent size just because they are lungs. you dont want them to look like blobs on your upper back. the more the actual size as possible, the better i think the tattoo would look.
