johnb: Does abrupt weight or muscular tone changes deform tattoos?
Hi there! Well ill make it quick -as tattooers prolly hear this stuff all the time lol- , ive been down for a long long time with addiction, heavy drinking, acute depression and very, very, idiotic choices in my life. So now im embracing a brighter side of life, struggled a lot but finally gone shiny clean and in the meantime ive lost 10 kgs (around 22 pounds i think). Ill probably still be losing a bit more weight till regaining my old shape (and my old self).
Now problem is a lot of muscle has gone with the fat and im quite weak. Im not into weight lifting, gym or anabolic style person, not into muscle and sixpack abs, but more into lean, running and aerobic activities. But im sure ill eventually grow a little muscle in the back too (where i want to place a more like big tattoo, not full back but not a tiny tat).
Question is: ¿should i wait a while till my body finally gets his final shape or it would pose a problem to have it done and then grow a bit of muscle? Quite cliché i guess but i want closure and wisdom from it not to repeat the many mistakes i made while down under…. so i guess im quite anxious to have it done.
I mean will it lose its form or colouring if i grow a bit of muscle on the back? should i wait a bit more and then go for it? As i said im picturing a average-big tattoo not a tiny star or something of that kind. I guess arms may deform easily if you go from no muscle to average muscle but maybe back is ok till i guess muscles at the back stretch skin symmetrically.
Well good karma to all of you, any feedback from a friendly tattooer would be greatly appretiated! THX good vibes to you all 😀
Thanks for your feedback elizabeth! Yeah it sounds cool to take it as a reward when i finally get my “self” back 😀
Just anxious to get some sort of closure for that sad sad time ive gone through.
Thanks a lot and good karma for you 😀

It depends on where you get your tattoo. Unless you’re planning on losing a lot of weight (like 100+) then your back should be a good place, and you won’t develop big back muscles there unless you really want to and actually work hard for it. I have one on the back of my shoulder. When I got it, I was about 60 pounds heavier than I am now, but it still looks exactly the same. Depending on your goals and what you want tattoo wise you could sort of reward yourself for getting in shape with a tattoo when you reach your goals? That’s kind of what I did and it’s helped a bit. Good luck with you tat!
