: How can my mom keep the rice from sticking to the pot while preventing squishiness?
When my mom first buys the rice, its fine. But on the next, she says in order to stop the rice from sticking to the bottom of the pot, she emerses the rice in water. The only problem is that this makes the rice squishy and chunky. I am not the one who cooks, my mom is. So how can she stop the squishiness as well as not making the rice stick to the pot? Thanks.

It’s the starch in the rice causing it to do that. Rinse the rice with hot water and drain in a colander to help remove some of the starch, stir more frequently or possibly add a little butter to the water.
Try that, I hope it helps.
same as above-although ive heard oil is good to use aswell
