: Can I simulate coitus on my dog to establish my supremacy?
I’ve heard dogs some times like to hump dogs or people to establish their place as the leader of the “pack.” If I do that to my dog, will I have effectively shown him who is boss?

Why simulate just do it.
It is my understanding it is to show possession. My spayed Chihuahua seems to be rubbing her tummy on a plump stuffed bunny. I have not ever seen her do it to any other thing, although she only has mostly cold or skinny critters. My now neutered male never ever practiced before when he was intact. He seemed to know when a female was ready and just took care of business in short order. The way you show a dog that you are his superior is to respect him and to provide his currency, which is food. The thing he can no longer do for his self is get food. If you calmly and carefully provide a quality meat based high protein food on a consistent bases he will show you respect. Gentleness and affection will get a cuddle and a few happy tail wags.
