Tomasio: Should parents have to work two jobs to support a family of four children?
While a single mother who decided to have four children with no financial planning collects government money (that came from the employed parents)?
Does this arrangement provide a safety net which encourages more people to have children without having the money to support them?

I don’t think it encourages them, but I think it makes them think a little less hard about the consequences of their actions. Pregnancy probably isn’t as scary to a single mother when she knows the government will help her out. But I mean really, what can you do. You can’t deny help to children just because they’re parents screwed up. You can’t force women to have abortions, or to have them sterilized. But it’s also not fair that our taxes are going towards people who’ve made the same mistake over and over and over again.
Why should they work, its made easy for them by the government, not to, if tax payers money ran out, things would change.
The system and law is an ass imho…
Answer by anonymousYes, it does create a safety net and discourages working. However, welfare is also necessary to help those who truly need it, and it is virtually impossible to weed out the free-riders from those who desperately need government assistance. It’s a huge problem that every modern industrial nation is dealing with, and there is no easy solution.Answer by Silverbolt
DAMN… you made me realize something that is very true… I initially going to say hell yes, they are responsible for there kids and have got to make it on there own just like every other hard working american/canadian… but than I read the subject matter and Im oh thats right we live in a nanny state that favors single mothers and encourages the behavior…
Hey I cant blame the single mothers with 4 kids though living off of government cheques… its the government that is the problem, they encourage this behavior through subsidies… we need to go back to small government and limited government…
Single mothers are not the problem, the government and policies it creates are the problem… people who have kids should be fend for themselves and live with there families like they used too… that way people will make better life choices and think for themselves more often…
The road to evil is paved with good intentions…
Answer by LynnIt’s absolutely not fair. That is creating a new breed of thieves and exploiters. Compassion is the opposite of justice.
