radical_dude: what is RESIDUAL accommodation of the eye?
I know what accommodation of the eye is on its own. But what is residual accommodation?

Between ages 40 and 50, you begin to lose the ability to accommodate (focus up close by muscles causing the lens to become rounder. As we, shall I say “mature”, the lens loses that ability.
So my guess is that you are somewhere in that age range, and still have the ability to do that to some degree.
