distract her with treats on leash when you let people in use sit/stay commands
Put a collar and a leash on her, and have someone come in the door, hold on to the leash but have enough slack so that she can run up to the person to greet them, when she goes to jump tug on the leash a little, and sternly say NO letting her know that behavior is not ok. keep doing that with different people coming in the door, and with practice she should stop that behavior! I have a boxer and that is how I trained her to stay down. Boxers are very jumpy too! Good luck and I hope that works for you!Answer by polli2
“Back in the old days” we caught her front feet when she jumped on us and GENTLY stepped on her back toes and told her “DOWN” then released her front feet. It took a few tries, but worked. This may be considered “cruelty” now.Answer by Molly
I saw this once on Animal Planet and it worked with my dog (who was a puppy 5 years ago). When the puppy starts jumping, turn your back to him and ignore him (nicely, of course). Only when he calms down and stops jumping, quickly give him a treat. He will learn that Not jumping is what will give him the attention he wants and needs. It’s also good to practice this with friends and neighbors. My dog still has a tendency to want to jump, but she knows she will get More attention (and all the attention she wants) when she doesn’t jump. Good luck!Answer by beagledog
I put a leash on my dog when I know someone is coming over. If she tries to jump on people, I step on the leash and tell her No Jumping! Its part of being a puppy. I also tell people to lean over and greet her so she won’t jump on them from excitement.
