Catherine: What is the best programming language to find a job quickly?
I am planning to learn a programming language to find a job QUICKLY!
Should I go for PHP? FLEX?? C#? or JAVA? I never did programming before but I am willing to put 8H per day and give myself 8 months of study and practice. Thanks for your suggestions.
PS: I am 48 years old with the desire to succeed.

There is no such fast-track to finding a programming job. There are folks with years of experience and 4 year degrees in programming that are out of work. You’ll need to go to college for a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science if you want to even think about competing as a programmer in the current economic climate.
Start with C++ or Java, avoid starting with scripting languages.

If you want to be good programmer, keep on coding at least 20 hours a week for next 4 years .

If you’re learning programming for the first time, avoid starting with scripting or loosely typed languages like: PHP, ASP, Perl, etc or Visual Basic.

Start with C++ or Java. If you want to me to be specific, start with C++, you’ll love it for the rest of your life. It’ll be easier for you to learn (almost) any other language (like: C#, PHP, ASP, etc)
