What type of programming language is used for applications?

Kickass: What type of programming language do they use for applications?
I mean what’s the programming language people usually use to program freeware applications.
I have a bit experience in programming,can i learn it fast?

most probably java, because its available free and its software and hardware independent

It depends on how large the app is, what it does, and what features the developers give it. Visual C++ or Java are the most likely. However, for small/simple apps, they may also use something simple like Visual Basic .NET. There is not a set language that all freeware programs use. Different languages have different advantages and disadvantages. A programmer will choose a language based on how these advantages could aid in the program and his/her skill in that language.

I listed 3 languages, but I can easily think of several others that could easily be used.
