: What portable music player would you recommend?
I own an 8GB 2nd generation iPod Touch and so far, it has been a reliable music player. However, I want to get myself a new portable music player and I was wondering what you would recommend. I am open to all suggestions however, I want a portable music player that is able to play FLAC (or any other lossless format) music files and that has the capacity to hold A LOT of music.
Well, thank you for your time and I’ll be looking forward to your responses!

I’d reccomend a Microsoft Zune. I have one, thought the software is a bit of a memory hog, it allows you to convert files to different formats and bitrates (which helps to largen the capacity… a LOT). I always convert mine to 96kbps mp3 files, since mine only holds 4GB of data. But being able to convert the files to a smaller size, my 4GB player can hold roughly… 60-90 albums! XD I’ve only had to send it in for repairs once in the 4 years I’ve had it and it’s rather cheap to do so.
I’m also a fan of generic mp3 players, as you don’t need to download memory hogging software to load mp3 files to it. They also tend to come with cool features like voice recording which comes in handy for anyone that’s artistic in the music field. The little oblong shaped ones are pretty cheap nowadays. I paid $ 17 for my 256MB one about 6 years ago. Tons of recording space since the recorded files are only 64-96kbps. But it works for recording purposes if you’re on a budget and can create CD’s on-the-fly with or without the help of an audio editing software.
Hope this helps, aside from all the other useless knowledge. I’m not a big Apple fan, myself. It’s tricky finding a music player that will play FLAC/lossless format. You might even want to try a portable voice recorder. I remember seeing a few on eBay that played and recorded FLAC. Though a bit pricey, it does the job.
