Princess D: Piercing question…………..?
So, I got my tongue pierced today and I am super excited!!!!! Yay!
Just a question: Since it was late (a couple of mins before they closed) One of the piercers decided that he could still pierce me. As I was filling out the paper work, the piecer started to set up in the back. When I got back there he had the clamp already out on the sterile field (and the clamp wasn’t in plastic). I did, however, see him take out the sterile needle (in plastic), and sterile jewelry (also in plastic).
Was that how it was supposed to be done? (for all those who have been pierced and are piercers/tattooers). Is everything ok/was protocol followed????

OMG! From me not seeing the clamp being opened from the plastic, GOD forbid, could anything be caught because of that (i.e. hepatitis, aids, HIV, etc).

no the protocol actually was NOT followed
the piercer should have waited til you were in the room watching him take everything out of individual plastic. if i was you and didnt see him take the clamp out i would have told him to open up a new one, if he refused i would have gotten out of there. they are supposed to and definetly need to make sure that you the customer sees them take evrything out and doing the protocol.
i have over 15 piercings and every single time they explain to me the proceedure, the hygiene etc. like its my first time.
them closing is no excuse, definelty no excuse when your health is at risk. people say im over reacting, but rather be safe than sorry any day
but now, just make sure you follow your aftercare proparly

Answer by ♥ purrlvr ♥every time i have gotten pierced, the piercer waits til i’m in the room and whenever he opens something he told me what he was opening, and he told me what he was sterilizing when he was doing it and why. he didn’t follow protocol but everything will probably be fine, just keep it clean.
