rdogg: My cooking pot smells for some odd reason. How do I get rid of the smell?
I left some food in there, then forgot about it for a few days. I washed the cooking pot, but the smell is still there. How can I get rid of the smell?

boil some water with baking soda added.
Let it soak for a day in bleach water then clean it again with dawn w/bleach..should come right out.i had month old hamburger helper in mine and i am not going to tell you what it smelled like.Answer by shannonv_dwyer

I would worry about any surface that retains a smell after being thoroughly washed.
I seem to be able to remove almost any order with either white vinegar or with baking soda. Use full strength.
You should also be careful about leaving food around for days. It will attract pests like insects and mice.Answer by neel s
