lewiscait: Music?!?!?!?
I’m 15, but I like old music, like the Beatles, the Stones, the Kinks, etc. but all the kids at school tease me about it. What do I do? I really hate new music, except for the kooks and Foxboro hot tubs, which nobody knows anyway. Do I pretend to like new music? Or do I just be a total loner with no friends cuz everybody hates me cuz i don’t like their kind of music.

hang in there, don’t change yourself to be accepted. Have u ever stopped to think that maybe they’re weird for not liking that music. Everyone is allowed to have their own tastes and I’m sure u can find someone who shares ur likes.
Tell them that your relationship shouldn’t be about the kind of music you listen to.Answer by racinggod2010
Tell them to f**k off. You have the right to listen to that stuff. They can’t critize you for listening to them bands. They are much better than what kids listen to these days(rap).Answer by n.rkist
F*** them, drop out of school and form a Kinks cover band (we don’t see enough of those around really, there’s too many people who think they look like the Beatles).
If that’s not an option, then just ignore the people that dont like you and you’ll find someone that has the same interest as you.
Answer by The Ironhead, son of Iron ManFriendship is not just about music you know!
If you’re going to ask me, I kinda pretend that pop punk and emo isn’t just my taste! But what’s true is that I loathe them!
Answer by TuesdayJust carry on liking what you like…maybe listen to some new bands and try to get into them – be more open minded. If people really are that bothered about your music taste, just don’t mention it or make a big deal of it. Make friends through other things first, then they shouldn’t care about what you listen to. Besides, there must be SOMEONE who likes the same music as you. Those bands aren’t exactly unpopular. 🙂Answer by Return Of Jackyl
Do your own thing.
But I think if you look hard enough you’ll find contemporary stuff you like (although probably not on the radio).
Anyway, tell the kids at school to f**k off. Never be ashamed of who you are.

personally i think thats pretty cool and there’s nothing wrong with checking out new music but DO NOT change yourself just to fit in. just hang in there,be strong and now i’m qouting Motorhead ; don’t let’em grind ya down:Answer by Erin
People who hate someone for the music they listen to or people who stop being a friend just because your music tastes are different from eachother is just about the lowest someone can get.
If things like this happen then you know that they truly weren’t a real friend in the first place; your true friends will stick with you. Friendship should be about how you treat one another, not based on music. If that were the case I wouldn’t still have the best friend I’ve had since 3rd grade (it’s been 10 years now).
Don’t change who you are or what you like just to fit someone else’s view. We need more uniqueness in the world.
But I agree, try to listen to some new bands only if you’re up for it and just see what you think. If you don’t like it, you don’t like it. Nothing you can do about it. maybe try getting your ‘friends’ or others to listen to your kind of music…
You’re not alone! I’ve been criticized for a band I used to like and it was horrible, but I didn’t let it get to me because I knew they were just people trying to look ‘cool’ infront of their friends by making fun of someone else.
Answer by rgh29follow your instincts kid, you know your music, and at your age thats a breath of fresh air. rock on….Answer by acdc_1
i think thats kind of stupid people not likeing your for the type of music you listen to. i’m 13 and i’m into all the 60’s 70’s rock n roll music. and i fucking hate new music (we should burn it)
i know this probably won’t seem like much help but i think it’s cooler to be original and like your own thing than to just go with whatevers around and “rock out” to the jonas brothers and 50 cent.
and you can’t possibly have no friends i’m sure they’re ar people who really get the awesome music and hate the new crap.
hang in there.

im thirteen and i like those bands and nobody should be prejudice about what you listen to and true friend will love you the way you are and not what you listen to and it’s good to listen to some modern day songs so you know what people are talking about but just do what you want
