DoritoMan: How do I get a motorcycle endorsement without owning a street legal motorcycle?
I have dirt bike experience, but I have to be legal to test drive the street bike I’m thinking about getting. How do I get a motorcycle endorsement on my license if I don’t have a motorcycle to take the test on?

You take the MSF foundation safety course. Most if not all states waive the riding portion of the test if you have a certificate showing you passed the course.
Take a state approved MSF course. If you pass, you will be issued a certificate you then take to the dmv and have the road test waived.
The msf course provides the motorcycle. All you need is a helmet, some gloves, a jacket and pants.
There are also places that rent out small bikes for people to take the test on. Not knowing where you are, I couldn’t recommend anywhere.
Answer by fire4511In many states, there are programs where you take a motorcycle safety course, and as part of that course you get your motorcycle license or enforcement. The other option is to have a friend with a motorcycle take you for your test, using their bike.
Without knowing the state, I can not give better answer.

You take a course. Seems like most places charge $ 125.
