In India, a lot of money is spent by political parties as well as by individuals contesting elections. There should be a way to stop this money flowing, which can be diverted into progressive works for people.

A lot of money is also spent in US elections, so what is the difference? The amount spent is obscene and, personally, I think there should be a cap set on the amount used to run for an office. It is utterly ridiculous to see $ 6 million spent for a congressional or presidential seat especially when there is so much needed to help the country in a positive way.

Our political parties have studied the pulse of our poor Indians and they show their money power to them and just for a paltry sum our people also fall pry to them. It is really a pity and the politicians like Karunanidih and company take the advantage and get their things done. It is again a pity the so called parties like Congress also give them a big hand without condemning them.

It is for the people to wake up and act wisely, else these dirty politicians will dominate in the politics and ruin the nation. –

Very difficult job. Your expectations are too high. Our politicians are not even ready to spend our own money(taxes) for our wealth and welfare, then how could you expect them for those things as said by you. There is basically our system is completly under corruption. It has to be revised effectively.

Coz they know the secret – MONEY SPENT is to earn MORE MONEY with the power. Its a pity we still vote, and elect them. the election commission has asked them to submit the expenses done for election and all the submission are so FAKE, Unless if judiciary, police, income tax departments are made like the Military – under the Control of President/Gov there is no chance of eradicating this situation. ( again president may COOP and have a military rule ?)

Because of the disparity in our society.. The poor people can be exploited at the time of elections. So the more money spent, the more votes they garner. There is a fixed amount a candidate can spent while contesting elections. But as you know, our politicians follow no rules or regulations..

I think the EC should be expanded and made a bigger body so as to investigate all these accounts more thoroughly…
