Leedee: How much money will we need in Bangkok and Phuket for 3 weeks, all flights and accommodation paid for?
My Finace and i are heading to Thailand in April 2010, we have paid for our airfares and accommodation (only need 4 nights accommodation in Phi Phi and Krabi) but we are taking AUD 6000. This is my very first overseas holiday and wondering if anyone can tell me will this be enough to do whatever we want? I think it is plenty but can someone give me any advice?
Thanks Guys

Since your airfare & accomm are paid – then the rest is mostly just discretionary spending – money you can use to eat, which is cheap, and then do whatever you want with – – so, it should be more than enough because food is cheap – everything should be cheaper here than Oz – but you will likely spend more because you will be doing fun things, trips and activities – it really is up to you how much of that you want to spend –
That is quite a bit of money to take & you should be fine.
Tours:
Depending on what you’re doing, an organized tour will generally cost between 1500 baht-3000 baht per person. A snorkeling trip in Krabi to some islands (not Phi Phi) will generally cost 1500-1800 baht per person, for example.
Food:
Thai food, if you eat at a local Thai restaurant, will generally cost between 30-50 baht per meal.
Western food restaurants will generally charge 60-120 baht per item ordered
Beer: About 60-100 baht per beer (depending on where you drink, of course); beer at a 7-11 will only cost you about 30 baht per can.
Note: Hotel food is generally very costly at resorts.
Note: 100.00 AUD=
2,982.76 THB
Transport:
Bangkok has a number of public transport options available (Skytrain, etc.) so you can get around cheaply. Taxis are also generally cheap if they meter their fare.
Phuket: Taxis are expensive here & you have to negotiate your trip price.
Accommodation in Krabi or Phi Phi can be reasonably inexpensive.
