Dan W: How to manage your time and brain for final exams in 30 days and results in good marks?
I will have final examinations on 6 courses next month. So, I only have 30 days to prepare. The bad news is that I missed most of the lectures during the term. And I don’t have any strong educational backgrounds on the courses. Would you please help me how to manage the time and brain for the exams so I can have good marks? What kind of strategy should I apply? Thanks a lot.

ok, arent u going to the class before the finals? i am sure some teachers would be giving review guides to follow.

well, the only thing that really helped me during my high school year was making up an study schedule….i created a table with subjects and hours…..like 2 hours i devoted on studying geography, 2 hours on math and so on…this really helped me gain the top in the class. besides, if u dont understand something try your best to interpret it in your language and then memorize it. make self-tests n give yourself credits….and studying in the morning really keeps everything in the brain fresh….also try to find a study group u can join…they should help u with stuff u missed.

If you missed due to illness or legitimate unforeseen circumstances, talk to your professors and TAs and see if they will allow some extra one-on-one tutoring.

If you missed because you slacked off, you’re probably SOL. You will still be getting new material for the next couple of weeks, so you can’t take the time to go back and learn the old stuff, which means you can expect to get further behind; and the last week or so is for in-depth studying to get insight on the deeper concepts, not for group learning or tutoring to quickly learn the concepts for the first time.

Best thing is just get off the computer, get a full 9 hours of sleep a night, and spend the other 15 hours eating, going to class, doing homework, and studying your tail off.

At least you still have a month, and aren’t asking this question with a week before finals. But if you got yourself into this position for dumb reasons, learn from the experience, because you can’t really learn a semester’s worth of a full load in a month. For almost everyone, it can’t be done.
