Susie R: Is there law for unequal pay for the same work and the same gender?
Where I work two men are doing the same work but are getting different amounts of pay. I have researched equal pay laws but everything I’ve found says that to file a claim it must be a man and woman, not two men. Is there a law that protects equal pay for equal work for two men?
That’s why I asked–the man with more experience is getting paid less– a lot less-And I was wondering if that was ok.

No. The law takes into account that some people are better negotiators than others.
As long as the pay difference is not due to race, sex, religion, etc it’s perfectly legal.

No. Furthermore, just because you do “equal work” does not mean you should receive equal pay, regardless of gender issues. When considering “equal pay for equal work” you should consider all factors, including experience, seniority, etc. Long-term employees often receive additional compensation to induce them to remain on the job.Answer by Judy
Not illegal, and wouldn’t be even if the people were different genders. To be illegal, the person must show they’re paid less BECAUSE OF their gender….. or race….
