♥ Lisa ♥: Is there an easy way to do intermediate algebra?
I’ve been trying to help my boyfriend with intermediate algebra. He’ll pretty much understand it, but when he goes to take the actually test, he just can’t pass it.
Is there any easy way to teach and explain this intermediate algebra to my boyfriend. I’m in desperate need of help. Thank you very much.

If he keeps doing the homework assignments, and makes sure that he understands each concept before moving to the next one, then he should be fine for the exams.
Start w/ the basics, fractions and solving simple equations and try to master that before moving on to bigger and better things.
Get some algebra worksheets (Do a yahoo search for “basic algebra worksheets”) and have him work through as many problems as possible. Also maybe try some online practice problems for fast feedback. Make sure he checks his answers as he goes along (for feedback)… and tell him no lovin until he passes his next test. 😉
Take care,
David

He needs to practice by doing problems on his own without help, using a lot of paper to do them over and over.
or use interactive sites like purplemath.com
he won’t get it just by “studying” or looking at solved problems.
practice, practice….and get a math tutor.
Answer by mrc22091intermediate algebra…
what does that mean?
Well, I’m assuming you mean linear equations with no quadratics, binomials, and factoring…
It should be done step by step. Visual graphs for slope problems help! Rise/run! There’s a reason why you subtract one point’s coordinates from the other and then divide the y difference by x difference.
There are some formulas to memorize, such as slope intercept, standard notation, and etc…
y = mx + b
m is the slope, b is y intercept. You can graph any equation in this form by taking a point at (0,b) and drawing a line with m slope.
ax + by = c
slope = -b/a
well, it shouldn’t be hard stuff, do it step by step and make sure the essential formulas are memorized… make sure he understands why he’s moving this x there and etc…
