Dazed: Is Obama appealing to the less educated, more emotional voter who is only voting on race?
Just curious. I wonder how the demographics break down in this area. It seems that the supporters of Obama on this site appear to be younger, less educated, and less understanding of the issues.

No, its Hillary who’s doing that. Demographics say that more educated voters support Obama, less educated vote for Hillary.
some say it is so, but others do notAnswer by Verbal_Abrasion
No, Obama followers are fairly sharp mentally.
Hillary’s followers are the less educated.

How about those folks in Wyoming and Idaho who voted for Obama? I really doubt if many of them are the less educated people in the communities.Answer by cathdew71

Well, he is running as a Democrat… so he has the backing of these folks…. so yes, they are.Answer by Noelle
No you are wrong so get your facts straight. Find a link, and I am sure it will show that it is Hillary who appeals to the lower class and high school diploma recipients or lower. Obama’s voters have at least a h.s. diploma, and usually are college educated. Good job making yourself sound dumb.Answer by Alexander
Yes.
There are a lot of people though who call themselves ‘educated’ just because they payed tuition and get diplomas. No wonder some of them still have trouble repaying their colledge loans 25 years after graduation.
Answer by FishguyAll Democrats do this.Answer by G.C.
I haven’t seen the statistics…
But, if you watch the questions on this site….Obama supporters are emotional…and do not give reasons, plans, experience as to their support of Obama….but, when people ask questions about Hillary…her supporters knows what she stands for…and the issues at hand….
Answer by Nick SYou’d be dead wrong about that, as every poll shows. As a matter of fact, Obama does BEST amongst college-educated young people.
Obama’s appeal is not limited by his race, and I think to suggest that is a drastic lack of understanding on your end. He is a rare politician that has real integrity and has not (yet) stooped to the normal “play every card you have” level that politicians inevitably all stoop to.
I invite you to look more closely at Obama because I think you will find that many of your preconceived notions far different from what you may think.
Answer by BROOOOOKLYNYeah its true.. Obama is getting the votes of the the highly educated. youre so called “liberal elite”
Fact of the matter is.. hes getting all the votes… educated, uneducated, white, black, male, female… hes cruising.
Answer by CarmenObama tends to win the more educated demographic. (College degree or higher). He also tends to do better with the youth vote, who are looking for a different way of politics. He is especially strong with the college-educated students. I don’t think it is an accurate statement to assume the less educated are voting for Obama—blue collar workers w/out any education are tending to vote for Hillary.
I think the youth for the most part understand the issues, they just aren’t voting according to the same issues as the older voters. Hence, the generation gap.
Answer by Matthew VChange….. Hope…… Yes We Can!!! These are all statements used by Obama that have no specific meaning. The majority of people who like him don’t know where he stands on issues, they don’t know anything about his “accomplishments” as a senator (none) and simply like him because he is black. They only know he looks different from Bush, whom the media tells them to hate.Answer by wizbangs
Perhaps he is, but I am middle aged and highly educated and I am supporting him. Why?
Because Hillary and McCain have proven track records of lying. They are saying whatever they believe people want to hear, which includes outright lies in order to get elected. They’ve both got long track records and it is easy to see how there is no correlation between their voting records and their rhetoric.
Obama may not have as much “experience,” which in this case is a good thing. It means he doesn’t have a long trail of corruption and BS stories that he is trying to pull over my eyes. Maybe he isn’t using specifics because he’s going to rely on his staff for those, but at least he’s got enough respect for my intelligence to not lie to my face.
…and the nation needs a positive message right now. Considering any of these 3 are probably going to tank the economy and make things rough for the next 4 years, I’d at least like a cheerleader in the White House so I can feel better about it, rather than some one like Hillary who’s going to try and blame it on Bush and McCain who will try to blame it on me.
Answer by Mercer DevilOr maybe the supporters for Clinton and McCain are just the older, more cynical that no longer believe any candidate can really bring about meaningful change.
I think people who claim to be more educated on the issues claim to be so merely as a form of ego-stroking, that their vote should count for more. I think those people are just disdainful of Obama’s popularity and console themselves by slandering his supporters as emotional and uneducated. If those people were truly educated on the issues, Ron Paul’s candidacy would’ve been taken more seriously.
Answer by Don HNot true-check the exit data from the past primaries. You will se that the more education a person has the more likely they are to vote for Sen. Obama. Sen. Clinton is appealing to the less educated – older white female voter. You know like Geraldine Ferraro.Answer by His Divine Shadow
Actually, the demographics show that the people voting for Obama are both young AND educated. Less educated folks are voting for Clinton, as well as more blue-collar working folk.
I highly recommend you start paying attention – this is common knowledge and has been for months now.
Answer by PolishI guess it depends on which side of the fence you are sitting on. If you like Obama , naturally you will think the more educated and elite want him. Likewise, if you like Cllinton, you will think the same of her. I think Hilliary is more intelligent and more educated. I also think she is the better candidate.Answer by Ron N

You have it all wrong.
According to polls, many of them, Obama is drawing best from the better educated more upscale liberal dems.
That’s where you find the educational elitists, the guilty nouveau riche, the hate America first crowd and others of there ilk.Answer by sanjac1836
From looking at the above, just because you can sit in one place for 4 years and get a diploma doesn’t mean you have any understanding of the world. I got one and I’m still trying to figure out why the fools still fall for the socialist line, why everybody wants to be a victim and just why would anybody vote for a democrat?Answer by Ebby
Obama leads voters aged 18 to 44 with 58 percent to Clinton’s 37 percent, while Clinton leads voters 45 and up 55 percent to Obama’s 39 percent.
Voters with no college degree side with Clinton 51 percent to Obama’s 43 percent while college-educated voters narrowly support Obama 49 percent to Clinton’s 45 percent.
Both contenders are nearly deadlocked among voters with an annual household income above $ 50,000, Obama leading with 48 percent to Clinton’s 47 percent. Voters with annual income below $ 50,000, however, lean toward Clinton 50 percent to Obama’s 44 percent.

Thank you Ebby. Everyone would already know this if they ever took the time to research it. There are so many discussions about Obama’s race and religion, two things that have always been used to DIVIDE mankind, and Americans in general. One thing that should always be used to combat this epidemic called ignorance is research. A lot of people would rather type their opinions rather than take an extra 60 seconds to google search results from credible sources. Ignorance is bliss. It’s amazing to know that the U.S. is the leader of the “Free World” but has so many citizens with brains polluted by propaganda, manipulated by fear, and poisoned by ignorance.Answer by Ja W
Yes. That is how it appears on Y!A from the majority who enthusiastically support Barack Obama.
Then there are the people who will not let go of their dream no matter how often it is shown that Senator Obama’s persona and history are based largely on fantasy and clever marketing with little basis in reality.
