Their Constitution rules them: Is crime more based upon the perception of inequality rather than any real poverty that exists?
Many nations have vast populations of poor people with low rates of crime. Yet rich countries have “poor” populations that have considerably better lifestyles relative to poor countries but have massively higher crime rates. Is this more a result of a perceived disparity between the “rich” and the “poor” and the perception of inequality rather than actual conditions of “poverty”?

no
equality has nothing to do with crime
Answer by delina_mThey don’t compare themselves with other countries. They compare themselves with people better off within their own countries. Studies have demonstrated the more equal a society is the less crime there is, be it a poor society as a whole or a rich one. What’s important is that the disparity between the people who have more and the ones who have less is not so abysmalAnswer by dominique m
Other countries also have harsher laws. And you obviously have no Idea of what poverty does to the psyche. When you are condemned as 2nd or 3rd rate citizens. Then I guess you would not care about other variables pertaining to the subject and you might just want to hear: yep poor people are just faking their hardships. They just love being criminals unlike middle class or rich people who Never ever commit crimes. Obviously there is no correlation between crime and poverty.Answer by Uri Smendrick
