How an internet router work and what’s its cost?

Erin: How much would an internet router cost and how do they work?
I have a laptop that is a windows, the only place I can get internet is in my bedroom for some reason. Can someone tell me how internet routers work, if they work, how much they cost and where to get them? I would like to be able to get internet at the lake, outside, kitchen etc! please help!

an internet router requires a existing internet connection. you basically use a router for wireless and to extend one connection to a few lan connections from one internet source. A wireless router costs around 40$ for a basic one, and a regular router costs about 20$ . But to your specific needs you would need a really good router about 70-100$ depending on your brand.
