: How fast would internet be on a private jet using satellite internet?
I’ve seen how fast internet can be form a cruise ship can be. It’s slow. But private jets are supposed to be for business people who need to have constant access to the world. They can’t suffer with slow internet, can they? So about how fast is the internet on a private jet using satellite internet in mbps?

With current technology its about 512k to maybe 1 meg, really it is. Sat internet is slow when compared to other connections. Just check Hughes Net https://www.hughesnet.com/index.cfm?action=dspPageNotFound
or AirCell
The fact is many private jets don’t have internet.

It’s actually pretty fast if there’s only one person using it, about 2 Mbit/s. It can be really slow due to bandwidth limitation when a lot of people are online and sharing the available capacity. On a cruise ship they charge you by minutes of use rather than bits transmitted and received so the slower the system works the more money they make.
