Broken: How important is varsity sport participation for college applications?
I’m supposed to do cross-country but it sucks. My legs still hurt from the first practice. How important is it for my college application to have a varsity sport on there?
I’ve only done track (freshman year) and none in sophmore. Do I need this to get into a good school?

No college requires you do have done any sport in High school. As long as you have done some extra activity in high school. any-drama, music, clubs, organizations, student counsel.
No college “requires” sports or extra-curricular activity participation – those just suggest you haven’t been sitting around doing NOTHING. Perhaps you should consider to GET A JOB, albeit parttime, to show a certain level of willingness to work and some semblance of consistency, team work via getting along with others, and that you can be punctual.
Otherwise, the greatest consideration is your grades – your cumulative GPA – is the main thing that will make you eligible to go to the college of your choice.
Answer by x3StepherneeNo, you don’t need it. I didn’t do any sports in high school and got into multiple colleges with no problem. Colleges only look at sports as dedication. You can show the college that you have dedication through clubs and organizations and other classes that require dedication (chorus, band, etc.)
