foxwithabone: If Judaism was the first religion, then explain to me why Zorostrianism is an older monotheism?
I heard someone claim Judaism was the first religion, that is grossly inaccurate on many levels. Zorostrianism isnt even the first religion.

Zoroastrianism is not monotheistic. Judaism is, in no way, the first religion but, it is the first Abrahamic religion.Answer by Aravah
answer: No, Judaism isn’t the first religion in existence.
Zoroastrianism is more accurately described as a dualistic religion – light/dark, right/wrong, good/evil.
Atenism – the Egyptian version that came close to monotheism doesn’t count either. It acknowledged the multitude of Egyptian deities but focused worship on a singular deity.
Judaism is one of the first monotheistic religions: Hear, O Israel, the Lord is your G-d, the Lord is One.
Answer by allonyoav1) Zoroastianism is dualistic NOT monotheistic
2) Zoroastianism originated around 600 to 800 BCE Judaism around 1300-1500 BCE. So, in other words Judaism is between 500 and a 1000 years OLDER than Zoroastianism, not the other way around!Answer by bad tim
many christian fundies and muslims claim that because the old testament starts with creation, then they are practicing a continuation of the first religion. that’s literally all there is to that claim, which is not made by jews, but by delusional idiots looking for a pedigree.Answer by The angels have the Bellevue.
Judaism doesn’t claim to be the first religion. Judaism doesn’t start until Abraham, whose father was an idol maker. Like tim noted, some non-Jews mistakenly try to date Judaism back to Adam and Eve and pretend that it’s the first religion. There’s no reason to accept their opinion as valid, not when Torah says otherwise.
Zoroastrianism is dualistic and its origins are more recent than some people like to think. It’s one of those fashionable things to show off knowledge about, even if it’s wrong. 🙂
