pa4vt: If job interviewer says call him by his first name, could I do the same in the followup thank you e-mail?
So like if he says at the job interview “Just call me Joe.”, nothing wrong with typing “Dear Joe,…” in the thank you e-mail following up after interview?

tough one, just in case I would type in his last name. Better safe than sorry.
Nothing wrong with that, something like, “Thanks, Joe!”Answer by Elle
No problem. It shows you were paying attention. He wouldn’t have said so otherwise. Relax. It’s good that you care.
Best Wishes!

No I would still call them by the proper business name that way it shows you have respect. You don’t want it to sound like a buddy letter.Answer by Jerry BO

no, he told you to call him joe, respect his wishesAnswer by Krissy T
You want the interviewer to know that you are professionl and respectful. Start with “Dear Mr. ….”. Be sure to thank him for his time.
If you get the job, don’t call him Joe until he asks you to do so once again.
Answer by JestinIts perfectly alright to address someone using his name. Most of the interviewers like this approach.Answer by tiffany
In person and email are 2 different things. Since you don’t have the job yet, I would keep the email more formal.
