It’s French. It’s not used in English, so it doesn’t really mean anything unless you are specifically referring to a French stock-market such as La Bourse de Paris.

I worked for seven years at the Chicago Board of Trade and never once have I heard the word “bourse”. You learn something everyday! I’m going to look it up on-line right now.

while the word is an ENglish word (referring to any stock exchange) it derives from, and is almast always used in reference to a European exchange, most specifically, the exchange in Paris. In English the word is rarely if ever used.

It means nothing to me I don’t know what it means.
It sounds as if it has a French origin which would imply that it’s quite old fashioned and upper class

Answer by Terra nostra
It means stock exchange in French.

The term “bourse” comes from the name of a Belgian businessman from Bruges called Van den Burse. Before present technological tools, the “bourse” or stock exchange was a physical place where titles of listed companies were bought and sold.

Other words are derived from the original “bourse” such as marché boursier, indice boursier, valeurs boursières.
