It’s an awkward question, for sure. I usually say “I am guilty of taking on too much, but at the end of the day, the work gets done.”Answer by mikeydonatelli
Being a perfectionist. I like getting things done correctly.Answer by Linzy Rae
You don’t put yourself down. You need to list a skill or something you honestly believe you need some more improvement on. Employers know you are not perfect, and they expect people to name something. By all means, DON’T put down that you are a perfectionist! That just makes you sound cocky! I got asked the same question and I just told her that I’m a bit shy but I know I can become more outgoing and well I got the job so maybe something like that.Answer by Hawtness428
The trick to answering this question is thinking outside the box. Everyone who answers this question 9x out of 10 is going to say one specific thing they should fix. The correct answer should be humble and general: “I feel that learning is a lifelong process and there is always room for improvement in any aspect of our lives.”Answer by upwardbound
The trick is to use every question in an interview to your advantage and to say something positive. Don’t let them trick you into saying something that will get you thrown into the “don’t hire” pile. When interviewing someone once I actual heard them say “I am lazy” in answer to this question!
Pretend you are a politician on questions like these. When they ask you what you “need improvement on” or “what is a negative quality that you have” say something that is usually positively looked at. For example, “I have been told that I need to work on balancing social life with work because I throw myself into my work too much.” You don’t need to lie…just think of something that you are that is “negative” that could look like a positive and use that.
Answer by nnl1760Say that you tend to be a perfectionist and don’t want to delegate duties because you like to do everything yourself. Tell them that you like knowing that things get correctly completed that’s why you like to do them yourself.Answer by college grad
I have this question asked at every interview. Basically, the rule of thumb that everyone has imperfections and what I do is state my flaw but turn it into a positive right away. For example, I used to be shy and still am. However, during the interview I say ‘my weakness is being shy, however, this is one trait that I am working to improve on.’ Hope this helps…good luck!
