Nstack: I am currently studying and being sponsored for my Series 7 exam but does not understand NYSE ryle 345?
I came across NYSE rule 345, which states that just to apply for the 7, you must have a 4 month apprentice already finshed. This rule was supplemented in May of 2006 is this really applicable, or am i reading into it wrong. Im a college student who is being sponspored, does this not apply to me, or is it targeted for independent contractors

Ask your “sponsor” if your relationship meets the requirements of the rule. When I started I was told it was six months before I could sit for the exam. If you don’t spend significant time in a place like you intend to work, how can you be prepared to do work with your license? There is so much more to it than is covered in the exam. You are not cashiering in a 5 and Dime; You may be dealing with someone’s life savings. Be glad for all the mentoring you can get.
Rule 345 applies to everyone. You have to be “sponsored” to even sit for the test. Your sponsor should have you on the payroll. You can be studying for the test as an apprentice.
Your first answerer is correct. You can pass the series 7 test and still not have a clue of how the market works.
