tiffany a: How much should my husband and I expect to recieve from the tax rebate?
I am a stay at home mom and my husband works.I made no money last year myself.My husband made about $ 25,000.We have two children together. How much should we be getting back from the new tax rebate?If we electronically filed our taxes and have already recieved them will the new rebate be electronically filed automaically also?
It goes against your 2008 taxes? Wow I had no idea.Any more info on why?

yes, and they said it should be $ 600 for singles and $ 1200 for couple, but i dont know if that’s if both partners were working….should be received by EFT to your checking acct
EDIT: they are doing this rebate plan to tempt you into putting that rebate money back into the economy. i.e: blow it all instead of socking it away…
Answer by vbel1158The rebate works like this:
$ 600 for a single person
$ 1200 for a couple plus $ 300 for each child.
In order to get the rebate, you have to have filed your 2007 taxes. If your husband filed, then since you are a couple you should expect to receive $ 1200 plus $ 600 for the kids ($ 300 each).
You will not get your rebate electronically. Those will all be through an actual check.
Just an FYI though: The catch on the tax rebate, is that it goes against your 2008 filing. So when you file your taxes for 2008 next year, it will be taken against that. It’s almost like an advance from your 2008 taxes.
Guess they were right when they said you don’t get anything for free.
Hope this helps!
