SpacedOut: How would you feel if someone told you “I thought you were supposed to be smart.”?
If people thought you were smart in something, and then you do something to mess up and then they become disappointed and say to you, “What happened, I thought you were supposed to be smart?? :(” how would that make you feel? Would you be offended in any way?

No I would not be upset. People say that kind of thing all the time, and they forget about it in a few minutes. Even smart people make mistakes, and of course you already know that.
Depends on whether they were just being facetious or if they really meant it…Answer by purifyme

Yes, I would be offended, this sounds like passive/aggressive behaviour.
You could say to them “I thought you weren’t supposed to be a dumb @ss yet comments like this show that you are.” or respond with something so silly they won’t know what to say like “my cat has been throwing up hairballs a lot lately, it seems a little fishy doesn’t it?” or “that vagisil sure doesn’t work like it used to eh?”
