: How would the government respond if there were a deadly virus spreading (ie zombies)?
I am doing a project for scifi class and one of the elements on the brouchure is “how to determine the type of attack”. So what government agency would take care of this(a deadly virus spreading the usa very fastly)? And what would they do if there was a deadly virus spreading the united states very fast? And what plans does the government have in a situation like this?

First they would make sure all the rich politicians are safe, then they would bullsh*t to us on national television telling us there is nothing to be worried about. Then they would probably lock up all the infected people and exterminate them, us.

IMHO There’s nothing much that can be done. Everyone will eventually turn into a zombie , even the *special* scientist who was hired by the US Govt. to find an antidote for this …

All the US agencies would get involved. Marshal Law would immediately be enforced and they would set up quarantine zones within 50 hours. The National Guard would be the ones on the front lines of this, which is funny to think about.

That`s already happened without the zombie result. Back in the late 50`s, the Navy made over night virus spraying flights over the SF bay area. Then over a course of time they studied the effects by taking a survey of area hospitals and medical clinics to see what effects they had on the population.

Perhaps others from other parts of the country relocated there because of the prosperous climate it produced?

I don’t know why people like Broken Dreams are so cynical about things like these. In one case, they say that the government would lie and say there was no problem. But in another case (like with terrorism) they say that the government lies and said there are problems when there aren’t. There just isn’t evidence to support that kind of cynicism.

I’m sure the CDC would have the first crack at a zombie virus. Their website is full of specifics (not dealing with zombies, unfortunately).

Their is a virus spreading half the U.S. population is infected with it. It’s called Toxoplasma Gondii, it is a species of parasitic protozoa. T Gondii controls human behavior without a person knowing. Toxoplasma Gondii are real zombie making parasites. This is a real parasite!

It is one of the main causes for schizophrenia and hallucination. It is estimated that half the worlds population is infected with it. Our military has been using such bugs as future biological weapons. Trying to create a Super Bio Bug!!

If you get this parasite it eats everything, family, friends, it will alter the way you think!

The U.S. would be helpless to such a widespread infection!!

as far as i know the government has no official plans. It would most likely be treated as either a natural disaster or war in which case the first two steps are a the same. Secure the valuables and bring in the military.

first and forement the most important, politicians, rich, experts, and strategists would be exported to a safe location. From that safe location the president would then declare martial law and have the military brought.

from that point its speculation.

i believe, Large contamination would be sealed and neutralized by any means necessary, nukes allowable if they do not disturb uninfected areas. Smaller outbreaks would most likely consist of a shoot first ask questions later aspect. if they are 100% certain they are still human, shoot them. regardless of evidence.
