Jake: How would buying an Alienware computer have a impact on my gaming?
I play Guild Wars on my computer and I am thinking about buying an Alienware. Would this have an impact on Guild Wars 2 that is coming out? If so how?

An alienware will be a waste of money.
I am playing it on MAX graphics settings on an i5 4gb ram 64-bit win 7 LAPTOP, No lag in the slightest.
I would doubt GW2 will need Alienware to play at decent settings.
in general better specs better performance alienware is just a brand name……
online gaming (things to be concerned with)
1. internet speed
2. gpu (video card) — this makes sure your fps (frames per second) stay higher (higher better 30 is good generally)
3. processor — faster is better quite simply
4.ram speed
5.hdd/ssd (hard drive) — this improves load time…. ssd is best performance but about 3$ per gig vs .15$ per g on standard platter drive…. seagates momentus xt hybrid drives ~ .31 $ per gig offer much better performance than typical hard drives…..
I would personally not buy an alienware because you can get the same package for 1000$ less at other brands…..
Answer by Sange PWell first of all you need to state what type of alien ware computer your planning on buying, is it a desktop or laptop, and give us some specs to go off. It would also be nice to know what exactly you have right now since that would give us something to compare to. I can tell you off hand if your going i7 with about 4 gigs of RAM and a gtx 260 or better then your already gonna be seeing major improvements in your gaming depending of course on what your currently running, add striping your HDD and some good cooling and you should be able to run anything released between now and probably the next 2 years.Answer by Colanth
It would impact on your wallet and your reputation as a wise shopper a lot more than it would on your gaming.
The top of the line Gateway is about as good at a much lower cost, and it’s just about as upgradeable. The only thing Alienware has that Gateway doesn’t have yet is dual graphics cards. And there’s very little you actually need dual graphics for. (Once you get over 30fps on full graphics, anything more is a waste – your eye can’t see any faster. It’s like supercharging a Porsche that’s only going to be used on city streets. You know it’s better, but you can’t use the better part for anything.)
