Cate: How to “unbreak” a jailbreak ipod?
A friend(?) had my daughter’s ipod touch and jailbroke it. I’m not even really sure what that is, but it seems to have rendered it useless to her. Is there a way to undo what has been done?

nope
Yes
Step 1: Connect your device to your PC or Mac.
Step 2: Let iTunes backup the device and other settings, this is very important since we are going to wipe out the iPhone or iPod Touch.
Step 3: Click the device name in iTunes, you will see a “Restore” button under Version, click on that.
Step 4: Follow the steps to restore the device to factory settings. This might take a while.
Step 5: iTunes will prompt you to restore the device from a backup. Choose the latest backup you made before you restored the device and iTunes will copy all your settings for email and more back to the device.
Answer by Fatal † Existencewhen you jailbreak an ipod touch if done correctly it allows you to use 3rd party shlt applications infact id say 90 percent of the people who have an ipod touch jailbreak same with me its very useful you can customise your whole device get appliactions that cost money regulary and get them for FREE.
Of course if you didn’t correctly jailbreak your device right it might be “Bricked” Almost seems like it won’t turn on or off or basically dead having no use which is why they say Bricked but its ususally doesn’t happen
if anything you should try resetting it by holding down the power button and home at the same time if that doesn’t work plug it into your computer. There is no way to unbreak it but i get what you mean you can plug it into your computer open itunes and press restore on your itunes this will put your ipod touch back to how it orginally was.
Now, I would follow Riddlers advice if the advice doesn’t fix the ipod. I think your friend(?), which he or she is Not, owes your daughter another ipod touch simply because he or she had no right to jailbreak/ change your child’s ipod without your permission. Your not being messy by asking him or her to replace it as they did wrong.
