athena: How to travel all by myself?
I’m really interested in travelling because I want to meet different people of different culture. The problem is that how can I plan my travel? Do I need to join travel tours so that there would be tour guides who would arrange the itinerary? I really like to travel alone, yes ALONE. So how do I plan my travel? Please give me tips. From planning to accommodation to itinerary. Thank you!

Go into a travel agent as they will have all the answers you require. From single supplements you will have to pay to single cabins on cruise ships, to vacations for single people.
Hi, it’s great hat you like to travel and meet people of different cultures and interests. You have to plan your itinerary carefully considering the climate, clothes, the places and your lodgings, money requirements, special situations etc. It would be good to first get an experience travelling with a group and get to know the ropes. This would help you to get a better idea of what you could face if you travel alone. The ‘Lonely Planet’ travel books are very informative and give you widest information. Asian countries differ from Europe and differ among themselves too in the way a traveler is treated. You could also make good and wide use of the internet to get info on. Islamic countries would need special care if you a female. you could also speak to tour operators and get a fair idea. But first you must be clear about where u want to go.Answer by Erin Paul
Always act like a traveler not a tourist. It is important to know the basics of your destinations especially when it comes to history. you can search online travel operator who can plan all the things.Answer by lydia d
If you’re a first time traveler it may be best to go through a company who can help you get started. When I was 18 I went backpacking for a year to Australia and went with a company called Real Gap and they were great because they sorted everything i needed like visa and tax and bank accounts and all the technical stuff like that that can be quite complicated to get alone. Then they also do meet and greets when and before you get where you’re going, so you get to meet everyone in the same boat as you. They have hundreds of idea’s so have a look at their website and see if any appeal – realgap.co.uk
I’m not a sales person for them, but because I’m an ex-customer they give me a discount code I can give out to fellow travelers so if you do like the idea of something please contact me and I can get you a code for a discount off any trip they do.
But i really do think it is best to go with a company (even if you find a better one, like I said I’m not a sales person, just someone that’s been traveling before) because it’s a load off your mind when a lot of the technicalities are taken away from you and you know you get to meet lots of people in the same boat.
Take care and feel free to get in touch, I have a lot of advice if you need it.
